My Apple Tart came from a friend in Louisiana who told me it was given to her by someone who hybridizes daylilies. I moved mine to Arkansas in 2009 and it has flourished here. I have several other deep red daylilies but none as rich looking as this one does. It blooms a bit later than most of my others - mid to late June - but it is worth waiting for. Our weather gets hot and dry in the summer but right now - July 5th - it is still blooming. I have divided it several times so I have clumps growing in several places. I find it does best in partial shade since it is a dark red and the full sun here seems to make it fade. My camera is old so the photos never seem to show the reds just right.
