i bought the plant from the san diego plumeria society's annual sale in 2010 at which time it was three pronged and about 18" tall. today, it easily stands about 5' tall x 5 1/2 ' wide. it has bloomed every spring without fail, has a mildly fragrant scent ( not too cloying), and is grown in a large pot.
it is deciduous in our clime and on frosty nights hovering in the low forty's i cover my four trees with bedsheets. i do not bring them in during inclimate weather, as the pots and trees are too large to house in our garage. i do make sure they are watered if i know that the temps are dropping.
about early march, or as soon as the leaves look like they're beginning to green i begin feeding them half strength with an all purpose fertilizer every other week. on the every other week i feed a high phospherous fertilizer at half strength, too. this usually continues throughout the growing season. in between, i give them a shot of liquid iron about once a month, @ half the recommended amt.
then in late august, i start to taper off the feeding and do not feed through late fall and winter.
i have had enough flowers from this tree to string 2 leis of 75 blossoms at the height of it's flowering during the past two seasons.
the blossoms usually measure 2 1/2 - 3". if. remember correctly, this picture was taken in late august 2016.
