This is funny. I saw a new post on this thread and started reading. I was well into the saga of Tiffany moving crinums from her MIL's yard to hers when I realized it was written in 2015.
So I skipped to the end and after all the worry in 2015, in 2017 they are blooming just fine. Like skipping to the end of a book. I saw a post from SC that said it was 100F and I thought it was in January (it is Feb here now) and was aghast.) I was in western Tennessee for three months in 1980 and arrived in Feb. Thought I would die.
My blood is so thick from 60+ years in Alaska that it almost came to a stop. Then got hotter. I left in June to come home.
And as far as being a yankee in the south, sounds like Alabama is much more forgiving of such. My folks moved to TN and after 17 years were still considered outsiders and looked down on. Everyone was "y'all come see us' to their faces, but no invites. Up here we are a pretty welcoming bunch. Just don't wear your shoes in my house (esp spring and fall) and spit on the carpet and you are welcome.
