Sunset zones help us out here, dunno about elsewhere, figure out all of our various micro climates...one size fits all generaally doesn't work....BUT, sub=tropical zone 23 probably is USDA Zone 9, not quite 10.

I was surprised by this plant...it was given to me and underappreciated...I stuck it in the ground way down in back beneath Eucalyptus trees and ignored it. A couple of years later, I noticed it had naturalized and produced a great stand of them and then it WAS appreciated. I saw no value in it, for myself, as a pot plant, but love it planted in the ground
