@Patty - what a BEAUTIFUL plant and picture! I could hardly believe this was a clematis, I've never seen anything like it! I went to look at the other pictures listed for Clematis "Asao" and all of the others look like a Pink and white flower (including one of your own). Is this picture what it looks likes once it is producing seed? If so, how long does it usually look like this? I'm not a fan of pink, per se, but I am a HUGE fan of feathery-looking things and the picture you posted is definitely something I would love to have in my garden, so long as it looks that way atleast a couple of weeks of the year.
