For shipping zones closer to you, you can ship a lot more, for less money using Regional Rate (RR) shipping.
You have to order the boxes from USPS for free and they deliver them to you for free. To use them, you have to print your own labels using "ship n click". An RR box A is about 3 times the size of a small Flat Rate box and it ships to your zones 1&2 for only $6.52. The RR box B is nearly the same size as a large Flat Rate box and it ships to your zone 1&2 for only $7.17.
You cannot get RR boxes at your local post office, they must be ordered online.
