Hi, Mary. In most cases, the source we use is the Catalogue of Life. We have found that it is much more comprehensive than other taxonomic databases and is updated more frequently than others.

I am glad that you asked about Homeria because I see that our database entries for that genus are in dire need of updating. All of the species we list are synonyms now, so I guess I know what I'll be doing for the next hour or so.
