@wildflowers, I did put this on iNat to get help with an id. My suspicions were correct though that since I marked it as cultivated, no one looked at it because it won't show up in default views there. But, when I was looking at the orangegrass page it shows that the related Hypericum drummondii is commonly misidentified as it. I tagged someone that had identified those species many times before and he said it looked like Hypericum drummondii to him. The common name for it is not so nice though....."Nits and Lice". Not sure what the origin of that is.
I'm going to move my photos over to the plant page for that species here for now.

Nits and Lice (Hypericum drummondii)
I have to stop posting on this thread since the next swap is about to start! I still haven't joined the new one yet because I'm not entirely sure I'll be ready in time. I've been collecting seed but haven't cleaned it all or gone through to update what I have in my trade list. I just cleaned out my dud wintersowing containers from this year YESTERDAY, and I still have a handful of things I have to get in the ground somewhere. Every year I vow I won't sow as much seed or maybe even skip a year to focus more on dividing plants and cleaning up or reevaluating the garden beds. But then I just can't resist the allure of another seed swap and trying new species.
