I ran this report an hour ago on Wed Sep 28 at 8:38am CST. Looking at the plant database's activity for the past week (Sep 21 at 8:38am to present) we have had:
Contributions:
2,996 images added and approved. These were added by 102 different people.
177 comments posted.
323 new plants added.
1,015 databox proposals approved.
In all, we have 20,507 images in the database.
495 comments in total.
76,585 out of 180,977 plants have at least one databox field filled out.
Acorns:
We now have a member who this morning passed the 2,000 acorns mark.
The system has awarded a total of 16,949.76 acorns (this includes everything on the site, not just the database).
1 member has more than 2,000 acorns.
5 members have more than 1,000 acorns.
34 members have more than 100 acorns.
Visitors to the database
Even though the database was launched less than 2 weeks ago, we are already showing up in Google search results, and are enjoying a lot of visitors from searches.
In the past week, we had
1,404 visitors come into the database through a Google search.
Many of the plants in the database appear in the first page of results when you Google for it. Many others even come up as the very first result. For example, here is a
Google search for a specific cultivar of Sempervivum and we are the first result.
So, I'm thrilled with how things are going.
It is my experience that a gardening site will enjoy increased traffic week over week from January until early June, and then it generally tapers off, each week getting less traffic than the week before it, all the way until the end of December.
But for us, we are getting more traffic each day and each week is better than the previous one. Starting this January, I expect our membership to explode when all the gardeners around the world wake up from their winter slumber and start looking for information about plants. We will be ready to give them the information they want and welcome them into our friendly community.
