There are many ways to take cuttings of Salvia, my best method of success has come by taking soft tip cuttings or cuttings from the most recent growth, I'll take about 4-6 inches of the stem and leave a few pairs of leafs on the stem remove the leaves at a node and cut just below that node at a 45 degree angle. I moisten the end and dip it in rooting powder, I have rooted them out in vermiculite, soil, and other media, I moisten whatever Media I stick them in real well and keep a ziplock bag over them for about the first week. I spray the leaves and the bag with water each day and keep the soil or rooting media moist as well. I put them under lights and on a heating mat. Most root out in about two weeks. I remove the ziploc bag about a week to ten days, and just keep the soil moist. It works well on most Salvias I have tried it in
