Hi Karen,

Hey, thanks for the compliments and encouragement! Phil and I are a good team. As you know, it takes effort and desire, but the rewards are tremendous. Yes, do find yourself an area to claim for veggies! We had to bring soil in, but only once as we maintain its integrity with rabbit and chicken manure. I'm finding that we continually plant the same items according to season - the things that do well and what we like to eat. At first I was excited about gourmet, unusual veggies, but that faded quickly as it's become more of a produce production station for us as opposed to intrigue. We live quite the distance from any standard grocery chain store, so having it here is a real Godsend to me.

I wanted a full fledged greenhouse when we moved here, but after looking into costs, permits, maintenance, we found out it wasn't going to work out. So, we decided on the raised garden bed and now the hoop house. We've been at this for about 4 years and every season is still fascinating. If there is anything I can help with, please let me know. I'll do whatever I can. I keep my own seeds, too.

Thanks again for staying in touch. I get a lot of joy talking with like minded gardeners. Good luck with your garlic harvest!! Hurray!
