Thanks Lin Smiling yes it does has some similarities, but no it isn't Colocasia esculenta, I met that plant too in Brazil, but it doesn't make that big trunk like stem....it might be a non-native to Brazil as it is in a botanical garden having collections of plants of all tropical regions on the planet..
