The fruit is fairly tasty in my opinion.
The birds do eat mine because I have seedlings far and wide. In some places it is considered invasive. Not a problem for me as the seedlings are easy to pull.
I have several now. Mother pictured below.
edit to add: it does have some sparse bloom at this time.
