We actually wound up fencing off our entire immediate backyard area which includes our greenhouse, vegetable gardens, flower gardens, grapevines and garden pond because of all the wildlife around us. We even included a two foot apron of welded wire underground just outside the perimeter of the fence to keep critters from digging under the fence.
