I believes Scott's plant is a variegated long leaved typed of Asiatic jasmine (Trachelospermum asiaticum) (eg; "Texas Longleaf" ??). I have similar one in the past, but lost it, now only have the short leaved typed.
Trachelospermum asiaticum will have opposite leaves, and quite hardy. While most Ficus (with few exception) will have alternate leaves
