We have a local daffodil club with people who order from Mitsch, B & B, Ringdaddy? Scamp?? sellers from Ireland--so we get really nice newer bulbs. Our show attracts people from several states away.
Last year I bought all the sale leftovers at half price. I didn't realize how many they had left over...must have bought 200 different ones. My knee was torn up and my husband had to help me plant them and of course I didn't get to it until December when it was cold. I did get nice yellow labels made for every one of them, and every single one bloomed and was named correctly. I ended up having knee surgery the week before the show, so I didn't get to take any in. Sad
The day of the yearly sale, my daughter was home for the first time since Christmas, so I totally forgot about the sale. I'll have to remind my husband that I'm NOT making him dig holes this year. Rolling my eyes.
Didn't put in any big lilium orders this year, either. Just roses and iris, since those performed the best in the heat.
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
