Trichosanthes kirilowii - one of the most amazing flowers I have ever seen! It's a night blooming vine and jaw dropping to watch opening. It has 'tentacles' that wave around when it starts to open. It's a solid zone 8 hardy plant - dies back and comes back bigger and better each year. Years ago I made a video of the flower opening .. it's not very good quality but I was at the mercy of my technology. I have better technology now and plan to make another video. I have to wonder what kinds of evolutionary pressures made this flower.
