Are you sure it's the original plant or could it be a seedling of the original?
The new Echinaceas are a result of crossing Echinacea paradoxa (yellow) with Echinacea purpurea, and maybe others. Someone may correct me on this.
I'd love to have a yellow coneflower and am nursing two paradoxa seedlings at the moment.
