I bought my Sango-kaku in 2014. The photos with the yellow leaves and red bark were taken in Nov 2014 - shortly after I planted it. It grew but not very fast - I think it's a slow grower. The photos of coral bark in the snow were taken it's first winter - Feb 2015. The photos with green leaves were taken today - 4 years later. I have never pruned it. It's in partial shade. I enjoy viewing it as it changes each season. It's a real show stopper in the late Fall as the leaves change color & is highlighted in winter's snow.
Observe, observe, observe
We are fortunate to "see" & appreciate nature in ways others are blind.
