Ann I have been fighting armadillos for the last 3-4 years and have trapped around 60. Some ar easy to trap and some are hard. Harassing burrows does help sometimes. I have had the best luck with the cheap solar powered path lights. They have almost eliminated my plant damage in the yards.
I agree that relocating nuisance wildlife is kind of an effort in futility and I think almost all wildlife professionals will concur. That includes many species besides armadillos.
Nine banded armadillos do carry leprosy and proper protection should be used when handling them but transmission to humans is rare.
