Hello, I am new to this site but not to growing plants. I grew up on a farm and we grew most of our own vegetables, a lot of fruit and also had an ornamental garden. I used to take great pride in my allotment but due to the exhasabation of a disibility I was born with I can't do much outside nowadays so I surrendered it. I am starting a collection of house plants to indulge my love of growing things.

I am particularly fond of cacti, succulents and carnivorous plant but am very interested in learning to look after orchids and other (cat safe) flowering house plants. I'm also looking to grow ferns, ornamental glasses and similar.

Other than cacti and succulents I don't have a huge amount of experience with indoor plants. This is mainly down to my mother. Mother is an excellent outdoor gardener but is lethal to indoor plants. She is the only person I know who can consistently grow excellent asparagas outside but managed to kill an indoor rubber plant. She gave up on indoor plants after that.

I'm hoping that over time I'll bring the outside in to my bungalow and have a paradise of plants.
