@_Bleu_, maybe the difference in results started way back in the beginning with those two gardens. How much grit is in the soil? My garden has seen more rain this year and last than any good cactus garden should ever see. 6 inches since January 1st and most of that in February! Last year , I thought a couple cactus were on the iffy side but they all recovered during the summer.

I moved a bunch of blooming crocus into the cactus garden yesterday (they were in the way of a patio extension) and the soil was absolutely dry, even though it rained just last week. But, the soil in my yard is sandy gravel.

@needrain, Check out "The Cactus Man" for low temp cactus. A lot of my cactus are from him.

For other cactus I don't plan to put outside, my last virtual shopping trip was to Planet Desert. Their prices are good and the plants are outstanding. I spun the little Coupon Dial on the bottom of the page and ended up with 30% off my order. That encouraged me to add an Albuca spiralis to my basket.

Here are a couple of the plants I got from them:

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
