I love seeing all of your wildflower photos - so beautiful. I too have utilized burrowing rodent mounds when I decided to plant some siberian irises out in our pasture, that I had thinned out of a crowded flower bed. Much easier than digging, and they're doing great. I may try your method with some seeds this year.
