I've had an interest in rock garden plants for the past several years. Unfortunately its a challenge in my climate with sultry hot summers. I've pretty much relied on trial and error to see which plants survive our conditions. Here are a few survivors that have made it through several seasons. First is a bright floriferous dianthus hybrid Joan's Blood. Next is Potentilla neumanniana Nana. Veronica petraea Mme Mercier. Phlox subulata Betty. Last is a pulsatilla from Hokkaido which has barely survived a few years and finally cranked out a bloom this spring - P cernua.
