They will recover and often with more fans. From what I can tell it's a survival mode for when temps hover around 100 for days on end and water is in short supply. The foliage that comes back can sometimes be thin and wimpy but come spring everything is back to normal. I also have several that display summer dormancy and it's always about this time of year when it's really noticeable.
