We came from here

It is September 1., we have a Cat.5 about to destroy the Bahamas and circling north west! Sad
In happier news - September is Spiranthes cernua or cernua v. odorata time in NE Pennsylvania. On our way to our place we stopped on rt 380, where we discovered years ago a whole slope of these Orchids. The spikes were up, but still another week or two away from blooming. But, a rough estimate showed hundreds of plants! The same held true for the place along our pond, lots of spikes but still too early. Then we checked the adjoining neighbor's slope! We were not disappointed, wherever the vegetation was not flattened by heavy farm equipment, there were spikes in all stages of bloom! But - it was like looking for needles in haystacks, truly!! Smiling
