My entire supply of compost is leaf compost. Fantastic stuff. Most of my property is covered with trees, many deciduous. I rake, pile, and shred the piles with a lawnmower. Then each pile is left for a month or two, liberally watered, and maybe throwing on some potassium nitrate to kick things up. I get a couple of yards of compost every year. Unshredded leaves just blow away.
