Hello all,

I bought a beautiful 7 foot tall Fiddle Leaf Fig tree 5 weeks ago. Within the first week 2 lower leaves dropped off and I had some brown spots on 3 leaves, but since then I thought things were going well... Upon inspecting my tree I discovered a lower leaf in the back was yellow, so I lightly pulled it and it came off, I did the same to another lower yellow leaf in the back and it also came off with little effort... So that is 4 leaves dropped (and pulled) in 5 weeks... Not too bad maybe... But upon rotating my tree I discovered the back side that faces the corner of the room has leaves with brown edges all over! I was so sad to see this! My fiddle leaf is placed in the far corner of my living room which faces a large sliding glass door/balcony which gets enough light to cause shadows against the tree but its not full impact direct sunlight... This is the only place my tree will fit in my apartment. Could this be root rot, or is it that the back of the tree is not doing well because its not getting sun? In the beginning I think I was over watering as the top layer of soil had a white fuzzy mold. I read this is nothing to worry about, just removed the white mold and water less. Since then I have been waiting till the top 2 inches of soil is dry before watering... About every 7-10 days. The front of the tree only has 3 leaves with brown spots, which occurred within the first week of getting it. The brown spots in the front have gotten bigger, but no new ones have occurred in the front. The "back" was perfectly green when I first got the tree... Now its riddled with brown spots! Any advise? Thank you!
