The biggest difference is you can grow them outside year round. I forgot to look at your zone area. And yes that is where new hybrids come from. Just in my limited space and time allotted, just not worth it for me. I tried several years now with no great results. The spices kind breeds true to form, so I shouldn't be disappointed with the papillo ones. Next, I will have to find homes for them when they grow a bit more. That's where the fun is.
