Below is a photo of a yellow (possibly All Gold, but I recv'd it from a reputable source as Beni Kazi, though it has never shown ANY red) Hakone grass on either side of my walkway. I first had it planted on the right, then divided that peice and moved the division to the left to match. So these two plants are indeed exactly the same.... Can anyone explain the difference in their behavior? I do have a couple of Hakone grasses that are more upright (the plant I have which I believe to be Macra is quite upright), but the fact that this is exactly the same variety and it behaves so differently when planted only 3' apart really baffles me! They're like this all season.

If anyone has any clue please let me know, as it's really making me wonder!
