AG...I can totally sympathize with your bathroom repair. When we had our heating/cooling ducts repaired they had to cut thru floor.....one of the holes is in the front entrance...tile. There was about a 3 x 3 foot place where tile was cut out & could not be saved. Now, hubby is sanding & whatever he's doing to replace with some new tile. He's been working on it about a week now...and no where finished. Sigh. He said he was bored....so this is the project he picked.

YIKES! That wouldn't be much fun trying to come and go from the house since this is at your front door area. I presume you are using either a side or a back door? Maybe you should keep the hubby 'busier' so he doesn't get so bored. Hilarious! Does he like golf? Whistling

I honestly can't blame this bathroom mess on the husband though. It was more my idea to switch out the bathroom sink tops. See, the previous owner (5 years ago) had blue-gray carpet, walls, and the bathrooms had a blue cheap vinyl/linoleum counter top. Well, we painted and changed all the colors to match our decor (khakis, browns and accents of red).

We deliberately waited for the dog to pass before we changed the carpet. She was elderly when we moved in. Common sense. Old dog and new carpet. It isn't a matter of 'if' an accident happens but 'when'. Glare Rolling my eyes. We didn't want to have that with brand new carpet so we left the old until she passed and then put in new carpeting (a dark sand/khaki/light brown color) to match the house. It is not even a year old and looks as nice as the day we put it in because we DO NOT wear shoes in the house and ask (politely) that our company remove theirs when they come over to visit.

The last thing to 'fix' was those ugly blue counter tops in the bathroom. Thumbs down Well........you know the story from there. I just thought, "Gee...let's just keep the vanities and flip the sink tops. That should be so easy and cheap too at $90.00 each for nice cultured marble ones in all white." D'Oh!

In retrospect though all things work for the good. Had we not done this little project we never would have discovered the leak. Then what? Yeah. Imagine us going to put the house up for sale and the prospective buyer's housing inspector finding it and giving us a 'fix it' ticket for it? Blinking Confused Crying Grumbling What a nightmare scenario.

Or worse yet if it had just gone on and on dripping and dripping and the leak spreading and the mold spreading. The leak could have spread through the wall and gotten behind the toilet, tub and shower. What a horrible thought when I imagine having to rip out that and replace it all! Or since the bathroom is part of an outside wall......imagining them knocking out part of an outside wall and having to 'tent off' part of my house while my husband and I lived elsewhere so they could remove the mold that spread.

As it is, I am counting my blessings in that there was very little mold. It was only confined to a very small space and had not spread. The damage to the bathroom is minimal. Once the dry wall is patched the rest of the repairs will go quickly.

And I am going to shamelessly plug this ServPro company as the bill they presented us yesterday was CONSIDERABLY and shockingly several thousand dollars cheaper than what we expected. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! The owner cut us several deals, did not charge us for things he easily could have (or rightfully should have) and has bent over backwards to help us every step of the way to not only do things right but economically for us. If anybody lives in AZ and needs them I say use them! They are the best and NOT out to gouge you, take advantage of you or rip you off! That's a rarity today. They have the AG seal of approval. Angel I tip my hat to you.
