.I've always believed that soil temps are more critical to tomatoes than air temps as long as danger of frost has passed. ie, tomatoes don't 'grow' in cold (under 50 degrees) soil even if day temps arewarm enough. They just 'sit there and sulk'!

Cold/cool and wet/damp are perfect storm for many diseases tomato plants are heir to so @Sallyg I'd put up that row cover now and keep til we get some SUN!

Next year I hope to get ahold of some "Dwarf Tomato Project" seeds. These heirloom hybrids produce full size maters on thick stalk plants that grow to 3-4 feet .
