I'm delighted you achieved such a fine bloom ( Smiling ), finally, but I know this beautiful variety. It grows very happily up here (zone 5a) being left out all winter, in the ground, without even any mulch, in winters much colder than you have in Texas. I'd be more worried about the heat of Texas summers affecting it than the winter cold.
