Hostas in pots in a hot and humid Houston, TX
i'm in totally the opposite zone from you (USAZ3, Canada zone 4b) but i've been watching the American Hosta Association FB page for a couple of years and the consensus is they do really well but you need to find a way to give them their dormant period in a way that they won't dry out completely, but won't get too wet and freeze which can kill them. also keep them away from nesting rodents. most people tend to store them in an unheated shed/garage, or tip them on their sides for the cold season. during the hot season, you need to make sure they're in sufficient shade so they don't fry, and keep them very well watered since pots tend to dry out quickly.
