Hi! I've been digging through the forums and see boxwood come up occasionally as a good shrub for a shady area, but before I tear up out front of my house I wanted to ask.

The front of my house gets almost no direct sunlight, casting a pretty persistent shadow out to 3 feet from the foundation. I'd like to plant something with that boxwood characteristic that would eventually become one continuous looking plant, but will boxwood actually do that well in nearly full shade?

I do have the time to prune and trim the plants to help them fill out, but I want to make sure they'll actually grow in the first place.

I live near Annapolis in Maryland and any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks.
