Hello!
I've been growing a plumeria for about 3 or so months now after getting a larger cutting from a kiosk while my family and I were at Disney World. It sounded like a fun project at the time- and I've always liked the hands-on nature of having a plant to work on- especially one that is from a completely different climate (I live in the midwest). Since it's been growing, I've been super happy with what I've seen. Leaves and small yellow flowers have shown up in the past month or so, and I even had to migrate it to a larger pot (it became a much larger project than I anticipated, but all the more fun). However, I have had my fair share of suspicions, and I wanted to see if anyone here could answer some questions I have.
Here are some things I'm curious about, if anyone could answer some of these, I would really appreciate it!
1. Due to where I live, and how much sunlight gets in my house, I have to move the plant outside each day so it can get full sunlight, but I cant leave it outside- as I dont want to risk a cold flash killing the plumiera. When I move the plant, it does move around a bit in the soil, and I understand the roots of a plumiera are very delicate, should I be worried about the roots breaking?
2. The only flowers I have gotten so far are very small yellow flowers- however, the other buds are starting to turn red. I tried doing some research, and I think this is normal. Are these red buds going to be the full flowers when they bloom, or is this indicitave of some kind of rot or issue.
3. We dont get alot of sunlight here during the winter, and placing the plant next to a window would most likely kill it due to the cold. Im thinking about getting some kind of grow lamp when the time comes- will that be sufficient for the plumiera? or would I need some kind of heat source as well.
