Hi Guys,

Looks like there are some like minded folks here, so I decided to sign up. :)

I've been getting into frangipanis/plumerias recently, and I received some plumeria cuttings through a friend, supposedly from a Hawaii plant. It's a yellow/white/pink variety per the pictures they sent.

They've been growing really great, until they started developing spots on the leaves recently. At first it looked like rust disease but has since progressed into a worse state. I'm 99% sure it's the FrMV that stems from Thailand, per many matching pictures from the Kukiat's Garden site (not sure I can hotlink here).

I'm quite literally planning on destroying the plants this weekend, but figured I'd collect some input first.

Pictures speak 1000 words, so let me know what you think:

It's a real shame to destroy these plants, but I'd rather not be part of spreading this disease unnecessarily, if that's what it is (no one knows what else it could be). All 3 cuttings developed these spots independently. Some leaves have spots right from the start before even unfolding, others develop them after maturing somewhat. Once it starts it gets worse rapidly.

None of my locally sourced cuttings have any spots and appear to be unaffected, and I have quarantined the 3 imports, so I'm rather certain it came directly from the parent plant, rather than something they picked up along the way.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Francis
