Zone 8 is still very warm for hostas but plantaginea is the secret. Anything that has this hosta in their parentage will do good. I started with cheap hostas, because I did not know, and I have lost a lot of hostas here but I learned a lot too. Plant Delights Nursery has always had good advice, they grow hostas everyday right in zone 8.
