Cyclamens don't like warm weather, period.
You are very brave in trying to try and grow them in SoCal since around here they get ugly-looking even if there's a brief warm spell during the Winter.
The only thing you can do is t-r-y and grow them in the coolest corner of your garden but don't expect miracles in the warm California sun.

The damage on the snapgragons looks like is from leafroller larvae: they feed on single layers of leaf material creating those opaque "windows". Look for them because they are tiny, but it's possible (just possible) they may have been picked clean by some natural predator.
