My seedlings that I planted in January are getting ready to be potted up into gallon pots.

Fred, Michele or anyone that uses alfalfa pellets, I have a question. When I pot up my grown plants, I use this mix:

60% pinebark mulch
40% soil mix(miracle grow or similar)

add small amount of Fertilizer, alfalfa pellets and lime into this mix stir well!! (this mix is in the bottom of the pot) then I put a mound of soil with the fan setting on top of mound and cover with soil mix.

Then after planting the fan in the pot, I sprinkle fert,ap, and Lime on top and dress with more mulch so this handfull of mix is under the mulch and not setting on top of the soil. This has resulted in some really great plant growth. I'm very pleased with this mix for the larger plants. I just hope they bloom as well as the plants have grown!!!

With my baby seedlings I won't use the mound to set the fan on, I'll just plant the whole cup of soil and plant, less the cup of course. These will be put into pots that are gallon or gallon and half size. Also, Most of these cups of babies have two fans in them and I'll leave them just like this so I don't disturb the roots. I'll easily remove the cup and set the whole cup of soil and babies down into the pot.

Can I still put the fertilizer, pellets and lime in as I've done on the bigger plants? I don't want to kill my babies by putting in too much stuff but I want them to grow like my other plants have with this mixture. I'm just a little unsure what is best for them since I've always had problems with my babies not growing as I'd like. I know that too much can kill a small plant but not enough leaves me with little bity plants for a year or longer. So, any tricks of the trade???

Thanks ya'll and have a fun filled and blessed day, Mona
