When I re-potted 10/25, I did not water till the 31st.
I think all the plants at the nursery had a brown color at the leaf base on the outside leaves, so that did not really cross my mind as a potential issue.
When I re-potted the bulb was hard. Not sure when the plant was watered at the nursery, it was in peat that was saturated and why I wanted to get it out of that soil ASAP.
It looks to have a nice green bulb under the outer shell that is splitting.

I'm guessing new growth occurs in the center of the plant?

I'm wondering if it may be creating a division. From this picture you can see the small new leaves emerging on the outside of the main plant.

Edit: You know I write down when I get the plants...purchased and re-potted on 10/25.
