What have you observed re: blooming cycle of hippie imports from S Africa or Australia?

I bought some Sonatinis this fall and they're about to bloom. When will they bloom again? Next spring or ...

Years ago I got some Australian hippies which were planted in summer. They did not bloom for me until the 2nd spring following planting time and then every spring thereafter. .

Just wondering if bulbs originally grown in Southern Hemisphere (and subsequently imported to northern hemisphere.) readjust their growth/blooming cycle.

And to further complicate my question, how do growers get Dutch hippies to bloom in Dec, when they're typically spring/summer bloomers in the US?
