Hey guys, a while back I posted a question about growing a Ficus epiphytically on a stake because I wanted it to develop aerial roots faster. Well, I did some more research and decided that for my level of plant experience, the best thing for me to do was to just get one of these guys- an Audrey Ficus, more properly known as Ficus benghalensis or Indian Banyan. I am sooo thrilled about this new plant because not only is the foliage absolutely gorgeous, but they (supposedly) grow aerial roots more readily than any other Ficus. I can already see some minuscule ones developing at this early stage. On top of that, they're supposed to be one of the easier Ficus to care for. Ahh, I'm already in love with him, isn't he cute?? 😍
Going to give him a humidifier eventually, as that is supposed to promote aerial roots even more.
I still want to grow a Strangler Fig epiphytically someday but I probably need more experience growing from seed, and in the meantime, I love this lil guy and am looking forward to watching him grow.
