I used to have a small collection of African "Violets".
They were more like the usual kind, except they really had nice big flowers. One, was Garnet color, with Picotee, & another was " double", while one had appeared as if the blooms had tiny ice crystals, the way it sparkled.

I'm now trying to grow some nil seedlings, too. This winter has been rather cloudy, & more so than usual.
I also made the error of not moving the window screen, upwards! That tends to block some light, too. I figured, I may as well. At least, I tend to manage to collect some seeds a bit more easily, if they ripen early !
Summer just seems to get so hot, & easily lasts into October.

Good luck with yours, Joseph.
