I decided to post my bonsai adventure here. I'm just getting started in bonsai. Here's some backstory.
On January 9, my birthday, 2021, I found a bunch of oak acorns. I took them home and did a float test to see if they were good for planting. Sure enough, they were. One of them began to germinate two days later. The shell was starting to crack. The picture of that specific acorn is right here.
Not sure of the species, but I know where the exact tree it came from is, so I can get pictures to ID it.
Today, 12 days later, I checked on it in the small bonsai pot. I know I need a bigger pot, but I decided to wait until it sprouted and has a good root system before I repot it. If this is unwise, please let me know.
After carefully moving some soil away, I spotted it. It germinated, but hasn't gone above the soil yet. I put the soil back after checking on it. I did not disturb the plant at all, by the way. Just the soil.
Anyway, bottom line is, I decided to post my adventure of growing a bonsai from seed here.
If anyone is interested in following my adventure, or has advice for me, feel free to post here.
One question, what should I name this tree?
