We were given an amaryllis by a neighbor that the bulb was encapsulated by a wax covering. It stated that it would not produce more however after the blooms began drying up one of them generated a dark brown bulb. I allowed it to mature until it appeared to begin opening up. At that time I opened it and found many black seeds (?) inside. They did not resemble any of the pictures I've seen here. Regardless, I place a number of them into each section of a container I'd had for grass plugs along with soil. The main bulb did begin to develop leaves after I'd removed the wax coating and had it in soil contained in a small pot. It's gotten to about 12 inches tall and I've repotted it. Miraculous growth so far. Is the any information that I need to know about getting the 'seeds' to develop other than sun and moisture? Am I wasting my time by attempting to get these 'seeds' to germinate?
