To Henderman,
I did stain it with a water based stain.
I've used it before, it doesn't leave a residue smell once it's sat outside for little while.
I'm sure it will eventually weather and need replacement in a few years, but the same stain has kept the raised beds from rotting after three years.
After I took the photo I also added two 14 gauge wire supports attached to the fence and the post on the left in case it gets hit with a blast of wind once it's full with vegetation.
