Agree with the birdbath suggestion. Birds like to perch at different heights, so you should have big trees and various shrubs, generally. I never feed anything to birds and they seem to find a lot to do and eat in my yard.

For nectar plants for butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, this discussion should give you some ideas. The possibilities are nearly endless:

Try to use a variety so there is always something blooming. Most of these plants will also make seeds that various birds will enjoy eating.

In addition to nectar plants, butterflies also need host plants on which to lay eggs, and when the eggs hatch, for the caterpillars to eat. Worthwhile host plants are much more specific in regard to the butterflies known to be in your local area. If you get a list of the ones you hope to attract, you can research their host plants and choose some of them.

Don't use any 'cides on nectar or host plants. Try to keep your garden free of stray cats.
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The 2nd best time is now. (-Unknown)
