@Sandsock. I suppose you are asking what is seeding pot mixture: 1/4 parts of barn swept manure+woodshavings+plus some other dried up organics 2/4 parts of garden sandy soil 1/4 gritty pebbly volcanic sandy soil. I sow the wetted seeds that were soaked 1 week and sow them 1/2" deep and then cover it with the gritty stuff. I do it anytime in late fall or winter when I can get seeds. Placethem outside in a dryish shaded site and let it sit until they show their first leaves. Then since I do have a cool greenhouse, i bring them inside to accelerate spring growth and protect them from late spring freezes. If you don't have a greenhouse you ought to devise something equivalent for that protection. A covered sand plunge ( that I don't have) could do it.
Two or three seasons later the pot is pricked and the individual seedlings are placed in grow bags. The mixture for that is still the same ingredients as above but no grit. I add about 1/3 of barn material and two thirds of sandy soil that has volcanic sand added to it. Presumably a season later it is ready for planting out in a bed.
