I don't think there's much benefit to watering more than once a week, if you're watering deeply.

It does seem to be in a pretty serious crisis. The clenched shape of the rosette, the tip dieback and the yellowish overall tint are all bad signs. Maybe there's something going on with the roots? I'm not sure there's much to do except exercise discipline with the watering.
